Enjoy stepping back in time to the 70’s strolling through the jungle, over hilltops and the water line on horseback. You will be admiring our green lush jungle, white sandy beach and feeling the abundance of space, clean air, natural clean energy, and breath taking ocean views. You will be exploring some the countryside of the island on one Roatan’s iconic horses ridding along with expert riders and enjoying some the island’s most beautiful scenery.
You will start out from your cruise ship terminal on a guided city tour driving through fishing villages and towns past shipwreck, local schools, museum, churches, hospitals, power plant, groceries and souvenir shops and stopping along the way for shopping and photo opportunities.
After that, you will make your way out to the ranch where you will meet your guide, and receive your safety orientation briefing and make your way out on narrow trails into the jungle on horseback. Your guide will be pointing out many different types of medicinal plants and trees used by the locals as well much indigenous wildlife native to the island. There will many great viewpoints to photograph while experiencing the flora and fauna on horseback.
Then it is on for a drive to the small fishing community of French Key where you will stop at the monkey and sloths sanctuary before boarding your boat that takes you out snorkeling. You will spend 45 minutes to an hour discovering the underwater wild life of the world’s second largest reef of colorful coral, and fish and anything else that happens to swim by. After that, if the mood strikes you can stop for mouth-watering lunch at a local restaurant for a nice local meal.
Another option is to head down to West Bay Bananarama Private Beach Resort for a cooling swim and to enjoy their lovely private beach and facilities before making your way back to the ship. You will have access to a beach chair, changing room, bathroom, fresh water shower, live island music, and free Wi-Fi.
